Women’s Soccer wins the Best Female Team GPA Award for 2009! Also freshman Aimee Ubriaco is honored with the Chuck Brady Award, which is given to the most outstanding female newcomer of the year out of all female QU sports. Sophomore Annie Sokolich receives the H.A.W.K. Award which is given to a player that embodies all that it means to be a team player; overcoming adversity, great improvement, role model and excellent academic career.

The Lady Hawks gathered together again to celebrate their excellent 2008 NCAA season. Sophomore Meghan Roberts earned Best Defender, Junior Megan Schwermer earned Best Midfielder, Freshman Aimee Ubriaco received Best Newcomer and Best Student-Athlete, Sophomore Erin Conroy earned Most Improved, and Junior All-American Becky Fleming was named Best Attacker and MVP.

Fleming Gets Recognized at the NSCAA All-American Banquet
Becky Fleming shakes hands with Lori Chalupny at the NSCAA All-American Banquet as Becky was recognized for earning her second NSCAA All-American Honor. Fleming and Chalupny are both from St. Louis, MO and grew up playing for the JB Marine Soccer Club organization. Chalupny is a gold medalist for the U.S. Women’s National Team and North Carolina grad.

Junior Fleming Earns Her Second NSCAA All-America Honor
Junior Midfielder Becky Fleming earns NSCAA All-America Third Team honors. This is a great award because it is voted on by the opposing coaches. Fleming led the Lady Hawks to their 3rd straight NCAA Tournament and helped them advance to the 2nd round. Fleming scored 11 goals (6 game winners) and earned 4 assists. Fleming also received Daktronics All-America Honors earlier which is voted on by the SIDs.

NCAA Tournament: Lady Hawks Advance in Penalty Kicks!
The Quincy University women's soccer team advanced in the NCAA Division II National Tournament in a thrilling game that came down to penalty kicks. The game remained tied at 1-1 through two overtime periods and Quincy, the No. 4 seed, advanced over No. 5 seed Tiffin 4-3 in penalty kicks. QU outshot Tiffin 22-7. The Lady Hawks now face #1 Grand Valley State Sunday at 1pm Eastern Time.

The Quincy University women's soccer team has made their third consecutive NCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Tournament setting a school record for consecutive appearances. The Lady Hawks will be the No. 4 seed in the tournament and face No. 5 seed Tiffin University in Allendale, Michigan on Friday, November 14th.

Quincy Lady Hawks now wait for the NCAA Tournament selection which takes place Monday November 10 at 4pm. Quincy is currently 5th in the Midwest Region and the top 6 get a bid to the tournament. Quincy is now 12-6-1 with the strongest played schedule in the region which is a key factor in the selection. The team has been training very hard these past four days in preparation if they get a bid.

Jr. Becky Fleming Named to ESPN Academic All-America Team
Fleming earns ESPN Academic All-America honors for her work in the classroom and on the field. Fleming is a captain of the Lady Hawks, a successful student, and a top player in the NCAA Division II level. To achieve the honor a student-athlete must hold a GPA of at least 3.30 and be at least a sophomore in academic standing.

Quincy Lady Hawks Win another thriller in double overtime against Rockhurst 1-0. The QU defense was rock solid again which helped generate an upper 90 goal by junior Jenna Boyko off a Becky Fleming pass. The Lady Hawks are now 11-5-1 overall, 3rd in the GLVC, 4th in the NCAA Regional Rankings, and 4-0-1 in their last 5 games giving up just 1 goal against. Come celebrate the seniors during senior day Sunday against UMSL. GO LADY HAWKS!

The Lady Hawks beat Drury 1-0 in a big GLVC match Sunday. QU’s Toni Eye was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. The junior goalkeeper posted seven saves for the Lady Hawks as they went 2-0-1 on the week. Eye also set the QU W. Soccer Career Record with 20 Shutouts! Great job Defense!

Juniors Becky Fleming and Jenna Boyko helped the Lady Hawks defeat Missouri S&T 2-1 with a goal a piece. Quincy is now 9-5-1, Ranked 4 in the NCAA Regional Rankings, and they now look to play at Drury University Sunday October 19 at noon. Quincy and Drury were the Preseason 1-2 GLVC Picks so it will be a great game!

QU finishes their regular season with 4 GLVC Games. The Lady Hawks begin this weekend on the road against Missouri S&T Friday Oct. 17 and Drury Sunday Oct. 19. Quincy then returns home to play Rockhurst Friday Oct. 24 and UMSL (Senior Day) Sunday Oct. 26. Right now the Lady Hawks are sitting at the 6 spot in the GLVC so these last 4 games are huge. Come support the team! The NCAA Regional Rankings came out and Quincy is 4 in the Midwest Region. The top 6 make the NCAA Tournament.

At halftime of the Lewis Friday Night game, Quincy Women’s Soccer was honored for their 2006 and 2007 NCAA Tournament Teams. Alumni on the team and current players celebrated as QU put up their new NCAA banners. It was a great night especially because of halftime and the 3-0 win. We thank all who came back to participate.

The Lady Hawks fell to Northern Kentucky 1-0. QU out shot the Norse 14-11 but could not find the back of the net. The Lady Hawks bounced back again Sunday as they won 2-1 coming from a goal behind. Midfielders Megan Schwermer and Becky Fleming scored off assists from Aimee Ubriaco and Jess Fritsche. Quincy returns home next week to play Saint Joseph’s Friday at 7:30pm and #8 Ranked Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday at 2:30pm. Come out and support the Hawks!

Quincy Lady Hawks Win 2 On The Road!
The Lady Hawks defeated GLVC opponent Kentucky Wesleyan 3-0 from goals by Junior Becky Fleming, Freshman Aimee Ubriaco, and Freshman Megan Wingenbach. Quincy then defeated Culver-Stockton 15-0 as they had contributions from their entire team. 13 different players scored including 1st career goals by Senior Laurie Ringkamp, Sophomore Kaitlyn Costello, and Freshmen Lauren Drewett and Erin Thomas. Fleming had 2 goals and 2 assists in the contest, Junior Jenna Boyko had 2 goals, Sophomore Annie Sokolich had 1 goal 3 assists, and Senior Beth Hettenhausen had 1 goal and 2 assists to claim the MVP of the match. QU is now 4-2.

Great Lakes Valley Conference Soccer Begins Friday!
GLVC play begins for the Lady Hawks against Kentucky Wesleyan (2-1-0) on Friday September 12 in Owensboro at 2:30pm. Quincy then travels back to Quincy to host Bellarmine (3-0-1) Sunday September 14 at 2:30pm. It should be a high flyin weekend and the Lady Hawks are excited to begin conference play.

Quincy Goes 1-1 Against GLIAC’s Top Teams
The Lady Hawks lost 2-0 against #1 Ranked Grand Valley State on Friday. The Hawks paced by Megan Schwermer and Becky Fleming in the midfield played very fast and had several opportunities to change the game. Quincy bounced back on Sunday to play a very good Saginaw Valley State and won 2-0 by goals from Hettenhausen and Fleming. The defense has been so strong and they earned their second shutout of the season. Now the Lady Hawks are focusing on the GLVC.

Lady Hawks Split With The Top MIAA Teams
Quincy faced two top MIAA opponents to open their 2008 season. Truman State and Central Missouri are both two NCAA Tournament teams in 2007 who returned almost all their players. QU fell 1-0 to Truman State and then came together as a team and bounced back Sunday to defeat a very strong Central Missouri 1-0. Becky Fleming scored the loan goal and the defense held strong for the shutout.

The Quincy Hawks are here taking a break from their preseason two-a-day training as they gather at the juniors “Real-World” mansion house for a team BBQ. The BBQ took place after day one of great training. Burgers, Dogs, Brats, Schwerms Special Salad, Relaxing, Rehydrating, hanging out, and watching USA dominate the Olympics.

Spring 2008 Lady Hawk Dodgeball Tournament!
The 2nd Annual Spring Dodgeball Tournament was a huge success. All three teams (Revenge of the Nerds, UC Ladies, and Ghetto Fab) did a great job in creating team uniforms and team names. The 2008 Dodgeball Championship went to the Ghetto Fab team which consisted of Dodgeball Captain Becky Fleming, Katrina Grossius, Emma Kriegel, Megan Reel, Julie Schmidt, Annie Sokolich, and Kelsey Stybr. Team Revenge of the Nerds won best team name and Ghetto Fab won best uniforms.
